maldives unveils two new resorts including four seasons’ first private island

Two new resorts have been unveiled in Baa Atoll including renowned hotel chain Four Seasons’ first private island resort developed on the island of Voavah.

Four Seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah is located a 20-minute ride away from its sister resort in Landaa Giraavaru of the same atoll. Situated in the vicinity of Baa atoll’s UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the private island resort features only seven villas and a two-storey beach house accommodating a maximum of 22 tourists at a time. The resort also boasts other luxury facilities such as a restaurant, swimming pool, library and gym with activities including yoga and meditation. An expert from the famous Italian salon brand Rossano Ferretti is also on hand at the resort to provide hair care.

The other resort unveiled in Baa atoll is Milaidhoo Island Maldives in the Biosphere Reserve. Developed by a local firm, Universal Resorts Maldives, Milaidhoo features 30 water villas and 20 beach villas, each with a private swimming pool. The most prominent feature of Milaidhoo Island Resort is its references to local culture integrated into its design. One of its three restaurants is designed in the shape of three batheli (traditional sailing boats).

In addition to these latest offering, the Maldives unveiled a string of new resorts in 2016, including the recently opened Soneva Jani, St. Regis Vommuli and Huravalhi Island Resort featuring the world’s largest underwater restaurant. The government had also announced twenty new resorts to be unveiled within the year.
