Position: Head of Sales – MICE

As part of the Group Sales Team, you will be responsible for the leadership & management of the group sales MICE function generating and growing sales across the group. You’ll be responsible for implementing strategies to achieve & exceed revenue and sales targets in the MICE markets. Knowledge of the Asian inbound industry and connections across Asia is a key requirement of this role. You will ensure that relevant reporting is in place to drive revenues and protect growth. You’ll need to have excellent leadership and communication skills, work in collaboration with the Managing Directors & Events teams across the group, and work closely with product and marketing teams to ensure strategies around product development and marketing are communicated to our key partners.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for sales and account management for MICE
  • Retain and develop existing customers of DTG through planned individual account support in conjunction with DTG Head Office sales teams including personal visits and product training as required
  • Understand the regions business environment, implement and deliver growth strategies that gives us competitive edge and enables quick growth
  • Identify the key players in the Asian Leisure, MICE and OTA travels sector and build a ‘hit list’ to acquire new business
  • Ensure ownership of the customer experience across all levels
  • Maintain & grow the MICE market database
  • Prepare and submit plans, budgets, ad hoc progress reports and annual sales reports for the MICE sector
  • Manage sales resources according to agreed budgets
  • Work across the group to lift standards and creativity across the MICE sector
  • Drive sales and revenue & source opportunities across the region – identify new opportunities for promoting products within the region and take initiative to do so
  • Work closely with the product team to develop product specifically for your sales sectors
  • Ensure that there are no “bad debts” and that payment is made to Diethelm Travel on time
  • Work on local strategies to ensure that Diethelm Travel is widely known in the community
  • Have an eye for detail and be able to take an analytical, methodical approach to administration and accounting processes within the region
  • Ability to adapt, plan, facilitate and gain commitment to change
  • Build and maintain strong relationships between Diethelm Travel and key suppliers
  • Travel regularly across the region

 

Experiences

  • Experience of working at a senior management level from within the travel industry, having ideally worked for a tour operator
  • MICE Sales/ business development experience in Asia
  • Knowledge and experience in pitching for business and putting together proposals
  • Experience in revenue and sales management alongside product and contracting
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills for both internal and external clients across multiple markets, particularly able to influence and work with members of the business from all divisions.
  • Able to demonstrate strategic thinking and understanding
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, including Executive and Senior Management level
  • Due to the global nature of the role, able to travel to and work within multiple markets
