Seenu Atoll, Maldives

Your decision to visit Addu Atoll is a choice see a very different side of the Maldives. It is certainly not the usual tourist experience.Your hour-long flight from Male’ International Airport to Gan will be unforgettable. From a vantage point up in the sky, you will see Atoll formations, islands, and of course, the blue ocean glittering below you. Before landing in Gan, you will notice that the island is larger than the usual Maldivian isle. With its very substantial length of 5 km and width of 3 kilometres, it is what we would call a ‘real island’. The resort, nestled in a sleepy corner of the island about 1km away from the airport, is called the Equator Village because it is situated on one of the rare Maldivian resorts lying south of the Zero Degree Latitude.

All the islands in Addu Atoll are connected via a series of causeways. The length of all the Addu islands come up to approximately 18 kilometres. Gan, which is one of the four largest islands, has a population of 25,000. Since this allows you a rare tourist opportunity to interact with locals, excursions are a must, in order for you to get an impression of the real way of life of Maldivians.
