Located in Quang Ninh Province, Co To is often regarded as one of the most beautiful islands in Vietnam home to magnificent beaches, natural forests, charming lighthouses, a fishing village, Rock Garden, memorial statue of Ho Chi Minh and more.
Previously, international travellers in Vietnam were required to hold a permit to enter border areas such as Co To island, however on 15 July Quang Ninh Province’s Police Department announced that Co To Island District is now a local tourist site and foreign tourists can freely visit the island without asking for permission from local authorities.
During the first half of this year, Co To welcomed nearly 15,000 visitors, most of which were domestic tourists. The new announcement is expected to attract more international tourists to the island and by the end of 2016, Co To aims to receive approximately 250,000 visitors.
