Etihad Airways has announced four additional weekly flights on the popular Abu Dhabi-Malé route, which will bring the total up to 11 services a week. With service every Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, these extra flights will commence from 15 June onwards and operate year-round. By providing more options, including an early morning arrival, visitors to the Maldives are able to maximise their stay.
In addition to providing better choice and flexibility for UAE and Gulf region residents, overall connectivity and timing options between the Maldives on Etihad Airways’ European network will be enhanced. Two class A320 aircraft will continue to operate on the route, offering 16 seats in business class and 120 in economy.
Since launching this route in November 2011, Etihad Airways has flown more than 550,000 passengers to and from the Maldives. Visitors from the UAE increased 35% over the past 12 months, while Europe continues to be the main market for travel to the Maldives, which is considered one of the world’s premium honeymoon and leisure destinations.
