HON CHEN TEMPLE FESTIVAL IN HUE
Hon Chen Temple Festival
Hon Chen Temple Festival, Hue, will be held on 17-19 Aug 2010. This big event, taking place on the Perfume River every year, attracts great number of tourists to Hue. The festival starts with the tutelary gods welcoming procession from the village temples to the communal house. Various rituals will be performed and the highlight of the festival is the boat procession of the Heaven Goddess Thien Y A Na taking place at night with myriads of lights.

WORLD GASTRONOMY FESTIVAL 2010 IN VUNG TAU
The Word Gastronomy Festival 2010 will be staged in the southern city of Vung Tau (a mere 3-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City). 50 countries and 03 cities have already registered for the festival which will feature 5 main themes: gastronomy, culture, festivities, shopping and recreation.
Attending the event, guests will not only have a chance to savor delicious food and enjoy performances by international and domestic artists, but also to experience and learn about foreign cultures.
Taking place on the 3 km stretch of Vung Tau's fine beach, the festival sees an opportunity to be listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. Moreover, it is planned that the gastronomy festival will be staged as Ba Ria – Vung Tau province's annual event.

FLOWER FESTIVAL MARKS CITY'S MILLENNIAL BIRTHDAY
Flower Festival A flower festival will be held in the relic site of the Thang Long Royal Citadel in Hanoi from 15 May to 30 October 2010 to celebrate the capital city's 1,000th founding anniversary.
As part of the "Space of Arts" program developed by the XQ Vietnam Company and the Co Loa - Hanoi Citadel Relics Management Board, the festival will showcase various kinds of flowers grown in the Central Highlands city of Dalat with a special emphasis on wild orchids. There will also be a series of events paying tribute to Vietnamese embroidered art and the artisans in this field.
The organizers plan to set up a hall to exhibit 12 special works which are embroidered with a flower design on both sides, as well as other embroideries using deep-blue and yellow colors.
01 October 2010, an embroidery work titled "Desire of the 1,000-year-old Thang Long" will be presented to the city of Hanoi during the opening ceremony that will mark the capital city's 1,000th founding anniversary.
Nine embroiderers are still working on the gift, which is expected to weigh almost 167.5 kg and will be 4 m long and 3m wide upon its completion in September this year.

From 02 - 09 October 2010, artistic performances, tourism festivals, craft villages' festivals and more will be staged. The grand ceremony on state level will take place 10 October 2010 at Ba Dinh Square (Hanoi) and a grand cultural festival to celebrate the 1,000 th year anniversary of Thang Long (Hanoi) will be held in the West Lake area of Hanoi.

UNESCO has adopted a resolution on the celebration of Thang Long's (Hanoi's) 1,000th founding anniversary providing for international status of this event. With the millennial celebration of Thang Long (Hanoi), the capital of Vietnam has also drawn close attention and interest from countries worldwide. According to the organizing committee, about 100 countries have registered or accepted the invitation, 30 of which will join the event with their special programs and performances. Italy will be represented by the children's choir from Trento and the La Scala Theatre from Milan. Many French cities have shown interest in the event. The Netherlands will send 30,000 tulips and features a Dutch village with liveliness and unique cultural characteristics. Thailand will join with cultural road shows while Japan's Fukuoka city will hold Japanese Culture Days in Hanoi during this time.

Vietnam Airlines, the national flag carrier, inaugurated the first direct flight from Hanoi to Rangoon on March 2nd, 2010.
