DAY 1
|
Pick up at the hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and transfer to Cai Be. Upon arrival, embark on the Song Xanh Sampan. The excursion starts at around 10.00 hrs. from the pier in Phu An hamlet located next to Cai Be town, approximately 2 hours drive south from Saigon. Visit some local home factories where the rice paste, coconut candies and other specialties are traditionally made. The sampan will then take direction of Vinh Long and Sa Dec, cruising by Dong Phu and An Binh islets famous for their fruit orchards. After crossing the large Co Chien River, the sampan will pass under the spectacular My Thuan Bridge over the Tien River. It will then cruise on a small beautiful canal through water jacinth plantations… Disembark to take a small rowing boat for a cruise along a narrow canal passing by a local tiny village and fruit plantations. Sa Dec town will appear like a little “Venice” with numerous narrow canals. Disembark at the local market place for a guided visit of this charming town, walking along its narrow streets where beautiful French old houses and Chinese temples dating from the last century are numerous. Have lunch at an ancient house dating from 1890, home of Mr. Huynh Thuy Le, the “Lover” of Marguerite Duras famous writer. (see her novel and adapted movie “The Lover”) Back onboard Song Xanh Sampan, enjoy cruising down to Can Tho along a beautiful narrow canal, passing under several wooden “monkey bridges” and by tiny typical villages with some stops on the banks will be possible to establish contacts with the local population. A visit will be done at a Cao Daist temple. Have dinner at an ancient house or “Nha Co” dating from the early 19th century. After dinner, cruise for approximately one hour until Can Tho where the sampan will moor for the night in a quiet place.

DAY 2
|
At around 06:00 hrs. the sampan will slowly start cruising. Breakfast will be served on board at 07:00 hrs. while approaching Cai Rang floating market actually still the largest in the whole Mekong delta. Passing by countless sampans, boats carrying sand, rice, fruits and vegetables, fish, flowers, you will have chance to witness the liveliness of the floating markets and the waterways of the Mekong Delta. Disembark at Ninh Kieu pier in Can Tho after a visit to a local market. Pick up and transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City or for further trip deep into the Delta with surcharge.

Our tour prices are inclusive of accommodation on Song Xanh sampan, meals as stated in the programme B= breakfast, L= lunch, D= dinner, transfers and tours with local English or French-speaking guides in private air-conditioned vehicles, all entrance fees and boat fees as mentioned in the programme, drinking water and cold towels available on the vehicles.
Not included are optional tours, our tour guide on board, surcharges for other language guides, personal travel insurance, personal expenditure, such as drinks, souvenirs, laundry, camera fees, communications, postage, gratuities etc., beauty service and massage, meals and services other than mentioned in the programme, drinks with meals, compulsory gala dinners during festive seasons and peak season surcharges which will be advised at the time of booking, early check-in and late check-out at hotels, if not mentioned in the programme.
NOTE: Small deviations in the tour program are sometimes necessary, depending on weather, road conditions. Prices will be adjusted periodically in case of fuel price increase by our suppliers. Maximum one (1) child per cabin applicable only if sharing a cabin with two (2) full paying adults. Extra bed (or mattress) for child is subject to the choice of cabin and boat. Surcharges will apply.
