03 DAYS LISU & LANNA SOFT ADVENTURE TARIFF YEAR: 2012
Seat-in-coach tour (CNXLLA3D): Daily from Chiang Mai with English speaking guide – minimum 2 persons.
 
Half a day’s trek from the Lisu Lodge is the much more rustic Lahu Outpost in a Lahu village atop a 1,600 meter mountain. The house, built in traditional Lahu style by the villagers themselves, provides basic facilities for western guests and a fascinating experience of hill tribe culture and stunning views. Afterwards you travel in a combination of trekking, elephant riding and white water rafting to the famous Lisu Lodge.
Itinerary :
CHIANG MAI – LISU LODGE (-/L/D)
DAY 1
Pick up from hotel in Chiang Mai and transfer to Lisu Lodge. A traditional welcome drink will be served followed by a briefing. We will propose a choice of activities and you can decide how you want to spend the afternoon. A Lisu guide will then take you for a walk through the village. Start from Ton Lung temple to view the herbal garden and visit some local families with a stop for a cup of tea and a spot of traditional medicine at the shaman’s house. Return to Lisu Lodge for a tasty Thai Lunch.  After lunch, visit the cultural center created by the villagers, where you will find a collection of typical household items and tools used by the Lisu and Akha mountain tribes.  
During the afternoon you have a choice of activities:  
-Guided bike tour around the Lisu Lodge area Steam bath Massage or
-Ox-cart ride through farmlands and orchards to the Thai village of Baan Pang Mai Daeng - about an hour ending up back at Lisu Lodge.    
A second additional 1-hour activity can be booked at a nominal charge but as a free activity you are welcome to go cycling by yourself. You will be given a road book of recommended itineraries.
Time at leisure until Thai dinner is ready with a traditional Lisu dance show. Overnight at LISU LODGE.

LISU LODGE – KHUM LANNA (B/L/D)
DAY 2
Breakfast at the Lodge. Start an exciting day with an easy 13 kilometers (8 miles) of cycling to the Elephant Camp. Enjoy an hour of elephant riding through the mountainous jungle scenery down to the river. After a healthy picnic lunch on the bank of the river, you will go on an exciting ride, about 45 minutes of white water rafting that takes you a traditional Thai country village (note: due to low water levels during the months of April & May, white water rafting will be replaced by bamboo rafting). From there, you proceed to Khum Lanna. Upon arrival, as a welcome drink, enjoy a refreshing herbal tea or fruit juice from the bountiful gardens of Khum Lanna itself. Check-in to your room. Briefing to decide on your activities for the following morning.
17:00pm: Thai cooking introduction; get a free Khum Lanna recipe book and start a first lesson to learn to prepare an authentic Thai meal (4 dishes). All the major ingredients in Thai cooking are introduced along with the concept of balancing the 5-flavor groups. Time at leisure until dinner. Enjoy the Thai dinner that you helped prepare yourself. Overnight at KHUM LANNA.

KHUM LANNA – CHIANG MAI (B/L/-)
DAY 3
05:30am Coffee/tea will be brought to your room for your wake-up call before the sunrise biking along the rural country road via San Kwang village to Phrao to visit an early morning local market where local coffee is available. With the help of your guide you may buy local cookies and flower garlands for the temple offering on the way back. Then you visit a farmer’s rice and traditional tools shop, chat with the owner, and learn more about the rice legends and differences & properties of the varieties of rice. Your local escort will translate. Bike back to Khum Lanna with a stop to visit Wat Pa Gee. Pay respect to the Buddha image under the sacred tree. Continue biking to Khum Lanna along the local canal through the rice fields and get more information about the rice-growing process and the important place that rice occupies in Thai life. Refreshment or shower before breakfast is served at 09:00am.
10:00am: Enjoy preparation for Lanna country-style BBQ lunch with a garden tour around the compound; collect different seasonal herbs, vegetables, and fruits for cooking. Learn how to ride a water buffalo. Then take your second Thai cooking class during which you will learn to prepare and cook your selections from the garden and the local market. Share an informal Lanna country-style BBQ lunch that you have prepared with your host.  
In the afternoon, we provide you with a choice of one-hour activities:
- Guided biking tour around Khum Lanna or
- Fruit (or vegetable) carving or
- Artificial flower making - Local style personal herbal steam bath or
- Hot-pressed herbal massage (consisting of 8 kinds of herbs: ginger, zingiber, lemongrass, plantain, tamarind leaves, soap pod, camphor and Aom Kiew)  Note: A second additional 1-hour activity can be booked at a nominal charge but as a free activity you are welcome to go cycling by yourself. You will be given a road book of recommended itineraries.
16:00pm return transfer to your hotel in Chiang Mai.

Our package tour prices are inclusive of transfers from/to hotel in Chiang Mai town by open-air truck or air-conditioned van,  local open-air truck for the activities, English speaking guide during visits, elephant riding (1 elephant = 2 persons), rafting (1 rubber boat = 4-5 persons) and cycling. Your choice of one activity at Lisu Lodge: biking or oxcart or steam bath or massage.   Your choice of one activity at Khum Lanna: biking or carving or steam bath or massage or artificial flower making.  Accommodation in non air-conditioned room with electric fan at Lisu Lodge and Khum Lanna based on half twin-bedded room, local coffee at the market, meals as mentioned in the itinerary (B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner), service charges and VAT.
Not included are other meals than mentioned in the program, purchases at local market, and expenditures of a personal nature, such as drinks, laundry, phone calls, souvenirs etc.
Note: Thai Farmers shirts are provided for the duration of the stay only and are available at nominal charge at the Khum Lanna boutique.  A child 2-12 years old sharing parent’s room will be provided with a mattress, however, we recommend a minimum age of 10 for children. Guests should be healthy and in good physical condition. Weather condition may impose changes in the program or the cancellation of certain activities.
