Putao Trekking House - Myanmar

Putao Trekking House - a hikers and soft adventure lovers' paradise in the Himalayan region of Northern Myanmar

Only very recently opened for tourism, Putao in Kachin State, is the jumping-off point for pioneering soft adventure activities in an awesomely beautiful and fascinating region of dense jungle, mighty rivers and snow-capped mountains. Our base and partner in the region, Putao Trekking House, is an extremely cozy and hospitable lodge mainly employing local Rawan and Lisu people who love to share their knowledge. Explore the region on scenic day walks trekking through the evergreen forests, across suspension bridges surrounded only by butterflies and birds or include an overnight stay in a village house to gain a truly authentic insight into the traditional way of life, raft gently down the Malikha River with hornbills flying overhead, or cycle through the spectacular Putao valley with its pretty villages and friendly people. (It's flat!). For the extremely adventurous, a week long private trek to Ziyadam (the frontier village near the Indian border) can be arranged.

Putao Trekking House - Myanmar

Weather-wise the best time to visit is end of November until early April. A tour to this remote area must be regarded as an adventure due to the basic infrastructure and irregular flights.

View our 4 days (Rawan Trail) and 5 days (Lisu Trail) tours worked around the twice weekly Air Bagan flight schedule of Tuesday and Friday.
