  Myanmar Update

We would like to update you on the situation in Myanmar as follows:

As of Thursday afternoon, our offices in Yangon are operating as normal. Power supply, phone lines, e-mail and internet have been restored and our staff is happy to be back at work. As previously mentioned, all are unharmed.

Most hotels in Yangon are operating as normal, although they are still cleaning and repairing damages. However, we expect all to be fully operational again in the forthcoming week.

The main challenges are communication and electricity supply. Communication to and within Myanmar is difficult as most phone lines are cut. E-mail is not entirely stable, therefore please do re-send your message should you not receive our reply within 24 hours.

We are very fortunate to be operating again so quickly and do very well realize that we are a rare exception in a disastrous situation. Our hearts go out to all of those who are less fortunate and hope you will assist them with your donations.

Diethelm Travel Group enters Sri Lanka and Maldives in-bound tourism markets

4 March 2008

Diethelm Travel Group (DTG) today announced their entry into the Sri Lanka (DTSL) and The Maldives (DTTM) in-bound tourism markets.

Abbas Esufally, Group Director, Hemas Holdings PLC, and Chairman, DTSL, said "We believe the outstanding performance of The Maldives will continue for many years to come. We recently sought to strengthen our Sri Lankan business by finding a partner with a truly global distribution reach. From day one of entering dialogue with DTG, it was clear we had found a like-minded, service-oriented, company with strong ethics and financial resources."

Chief Executive Officer of DTG, John Watson, said "Our customers have long been asking for a Diethelm Travel presence in Sri Lanka and The Maldives. We have found an excellent partner in Hemtours, a long-established, highly regarded, and quality tour operator. We are now in the process of re-branding the Hemtours businesses and will be trading as DTSL and DTTM during Q4 2008."

Richard Brouwer, Chief Operating Officer DTG, added "The key in any business is the quality of its people. We are, therefore, delighted to announce that the current Managing Director of Hemtours, Harith Perera, has agreed to accept the position as Managing Director, DTSL and DTTM. Harith will join the DTG senior management team and, under his leadership, we have every confidence that our businesses in Sri Lanka and The Maldives will rise to even greater heights."

Hmong Hilltribe Lodge Welcomes Tennis Star

The Hmong Hilltribe Lodge in Chiang Mai is home to all sorts of travelers. Recently the staff had the pleasure to welcome Thailand's famous tennis player Paradon Srichaphan and his wife Natalie Glebova, who enjoyed a relaxing stay at the lodge.

Where the forest meets the rice fields, nestled among the rice paddies in the hills north-west of Chiangmai, the Hmong Hilltribe Lodge brings you the opportunity to experience Hmong tradition, culture and hospitality that has been practiced for over 700 years.

The lodges are constructed in village style, with bedrooms adjoining a communal gathering area, which features a central fireplace, ideal for socializing with fellow travelers. A balcony area at each lodge, provides a perfect place to relax and enjoy the unparalleled views of the spectacular scenery.

The village is set in a large garden with swimming pool - an ideal playground for children and adults alike.
